Luke 23

The religious leaders take Jesus to the civil authorities and try to trump up civil charges against Jesus in order to get the government to do away with him. Pilate, the civil leader finds no legal reason to do anything with Jesus. Pilate shuffles Jesus on to what would be like a local governor for Jesus' home. This leader, Herod wanted to see some magic and got mad when Jesus does not play along. Back to Pilate goes Jesus. Pilate has him flogger, probably to appease the religious leaders. People are not satisfied so Pilate finally gives in and condemns Jesus to death.

Jesus asks God to forgive his accusers and executers. Notice that Jesus says he will be in Paradise (Eden?) and not Heaven. Not much is said in the Bible about Heaven or Hell. One of the religious leaders comes by night to give Jesus a proper burial. Joseph was very interested in Jesus but never gave away his status by actually following Jesus. How many times do we find Jesus appealing or want his help but do not acknowledge him in front of others?
