Jesus draws a big crowd but concentrates on his disciples. Beware of being a religious hypocrite. What you do in the dark will always come to light. God will deal with you AND care for you. The choice is ours. Trouble is going to happen when you dedicate yourself to God. Hang in there.
A person in the crowd wants practical help, divide an inheritance. Jesus says that's not his concern and then uses the moment to teach with a story about greediness and what little value "stuff" (at least beyond necessities) has in the long run.
All this greediness comes from worry. God will take care of you. Be generous because our wealth and are heart travel together. A greedy heart brings lots of pain.
And be ready for a God-moment (opportunity to serve God through others.) Notice that Jesus seldom directly answers a question (verse 41.) Jesus, instead, uses Peter's questions as a teachable moment to tell the disciples that God expects us to be good stewards of what God has given us (time, talent and treasure.) Disciples are stewards. A steward gets to play with all the stuff but always remembers that it belongs to God (or is a gift from God.) Greediness is an unbeliever action.
People will be divided when they decide to follow Jesus because the cost (and reward) is high. Even families will disagree.
You have all sorts of opinions about the weather. Jesus says you can read you life as well. Look at the signs (fruit.) Do they point to you or point to following Jesus?
