Jesus is into his earthly ministry and running afoul of the religious authorities. This will be a constant theme. Jesus uses the title "Son of Man" for himself. He seldom uses "Son of God," which would be offensive to Jewish people. The Son of Man theme is in the Old Testament (Jesus' only Bible) and can mean "everyperson" or a special God inspired servant who is to come (as in the book of Daniel.)
Note Jesus even has his own home and has become sort of a "rock star" with ordinary people even though the highly religious think he is quite un-holy. Jesus continually breaks man-made religious rules that only get in the way of people developing a relationship with God (because they focus on the rules and not God.) He does keep the law of Moses (10 Commandments) although he interprets them in a way that supports human life.
Levi was a toll booth attendant. Probably, he was a Jewish person with a concession from the government to tax fellow Jews. Not well thought of! Jesus seems to waste little time with people who think they have their act together (religious people) and spends more time with those who are thought of as losers.
The sign God gives Jesus to show Jesus favor and status is POWER. The healings are a primary sign of this power. Jesus' authority is powerful for people rather than power OVER people.
